Hey everyone!
Back home in SA for a bit after an intense week in LA recording the new Sebastian Bach CD with producer extraordinaire Bob Marlette who was a real pleasure to work with. We did two days of pre-production before loading into NRG Studios for four days of tracking. I knew about half the tunes before going in - the rest I had to learn on the fly. It was a total team effort as Sebastian, Nick and Bob all contributed by suggesting some really cool drum parts for me to play. The new stuff has a very cool vibe to it and it really ROCKS! There are a bunch of pictures from the session posted on Sebastian's Flickr page. The album will be out this summer via Frontiers Records - check in with Sebastian on Facebook for the latest updates.
On the live front, the Bach band has confirmed 4 shows for May (with more dates tba), including a return to 'Rocklahoma', which we played back in 2009. Dates are as follows:
May 12 - Crocodile Rock, Allentown PA May 13 - Mulcahy's, Wantagh NY May 14 - M3 Rock Festival, Columbia MD May 28 - Rocklahoma, Pryor OK
Another project I'm really proud to be part of is the Arch/Matheos album which I tracked drums for a couple of months ago at the Carriage House out in Connecticut. I just got word that engineer Phil Magnotti is putting the finishing touches on the final mixes with Jim and John. Can't wait for everyone to hear this! It's been a while since I've done a progressive record so coming up with drum parts for what Jim sent me to work on was a welcome challenge for me. The album will be out on Metal Blade in early summer.
And, yes, believe it or not - there is progress in Riot world! We are continuing to put the new album together piece by piece. I think fans of 'Thundersteel' / 'The Privilege of Power' era Riot will be extremely pleased. We will let everyone know where you can get the latest news straight from the band very soon.
Until then - catch y'all later!
Bobby
